Stronger Economies Together

In 2011, Mid-Columbia Economic Development District, in cooperation with its regional partners, applied to the US Department of Agriculture, Rural Development to be a part of the Stronger Economies Together planning program. Our intention was to align federal, state, local and private interests to update our bi-state regional plan.

Result: The process was incorporated into MCEDD's Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy update. The adopted 2012-2013 regional strategy document can be found here. While the plan was adopted in 2012, MCEDD is engaged in ongoing implementation.

Process: The planning process involved monthly meetings rotated throughout our five counties and over 200 participants spanning public, private and nonprofit sectors. Program curriculum was enhanced through the delivery of information by local experts and the incorporation of local site tours for hands-on learning.
